Texting and Scones… Or Brownies

freeagentwatson:

I will, absolutely.

Hey, it’ll be something to get you through the finals stress and the ridiculous graduation ceremony. I have no regrets.

It’ll be a universally recognized Mermaid, haha. It’s usually a mix of half and half, chocolate syrup and coffee. SO bad if you’re looking for sleep, but tasty otherwise.

*She picks up the half empty plate, looking around for Tupperware.* Would you like to take any of these with you?

And for centuries thereafter, space historians will be confused as to whether or not merfolk ever actually existed. *nods sagely*

That’d be great! I’m sure my mom and brothers will love to have some. You really do make the best brownies I’ve ever had, and I’m not exaggerating!

freeagentwatson:

Kate, one of the other interns offered to teach me, but in the meantime, we definitely should. It’s not a bad skill to have around here. I’ll look into it.

*She tosses her head back, laughing.* I’ll try not to disappoint. *winks* Yeah, nothing big. Just a little gathering of friends and families. But there’ll be good food and good music, so I’m sure people will have fun.

You and me both. No interplanetary traveling without Starbucks. I can’t get through the day without one or the other. Sometimes both. My aunt thinks I’m nuts for putting chocolate syrup in coffee, but it tastes good. *shrugs*

Awesome. Let me know whatever you turn up? There’s certainly no harm in it.

I can’t wait! *grins* Look, now you’ve gone and made me excited. How dare you.

Hmmm… There’s just something fitting about Starbucks being the first coffeehouse among the stars… *she winks* Oh! I can’t believe I’ve never tried that! Do you mix anything else in, or is it just straight coffee and chocolate syrup?

freeagentwatson:

It looks like our only choices are move, learn to defend ourselves,  or get super adorable protection. I like options two and three, myself.

Of course! You and your family are welcome. It’ll be fun, good to celebrate after all the graduation nonsense. *She hands Gwen a red envelope.*

The food of kings and generally awesome people.

I think you’re onto something. We should take some self defense classes together! There have got to be some places nearby to do it, right?

Girl, I get the feeling any party you host is going to be one for the ages… even if it is for family and friends! Are you going to have it here? *looks down at the envelope in her hand* Or I guess I could just look at the invite…

Hmmmmm… Chocolate and coffee have got to be the greatest things this planet has to offer. If they ever colonize Mars, I would only go if coffee and chocolate went with me…

freeagentwatson:

If I never see another alien for the rest of my life, it’ll be too soon. But this might not be the right city for that.

Thank goodness there’s always that option. But I get wanting to stick with one school all the way through. *Nods.* Oh, so I shouldn’t mention that I’ve got an invite for you? I get that.

Oh, the pitfalls of being an only child! *MJ clasps a hand to her heart, before taking another drink.*

Amen, my friend, amen. Leave the chocolate covered bacon to the more adventurous types.

Urgh, I am one hundred percent with you, there. But yeah… New York seems to be kind of a hot spot for alien activity, for some reason…

*perks* Oh! Gimme! That actually solves my problem of not wanting to do one of my own!

You…. *needles a finger at her in a jokingly accusatory manner*

Agreed… Meanwhile, we have chocolate!

freeagentwatson:

Whoa, seriously? *MJ looks back at Arrow, who has fallen asleep on top of Achilles.* Well that’s handy too. Built in creepy alien protection.

*Half shudders*

You have every right to be nervous. But you can always change your mind, I guess? Yeah, that’s the only argument my aunt has lined up. That and the fact that I can’t have a grad party without the ceremony.

*Crosses her eyes, before giggling some more.* I think you win the funny faces contest.

I never had it, one of my old coworkers loved it. Not bad, you’d be a way braver person than me for trying it though.

Totally! I mean, I’d rather have NOT seen the pizza guy turn green and try to kill my family, but it’s nice to know I have a dog who can dispatch threats!

*At MJ’s shudder, Gwen nods in agreement*

Yeah, you’re right… Even once I’m there, if I REALLY hate it after a semester or two I can transfer, I guess. Oh, don’t even mention Grad parties.

*She pumps her fist in victory, and laughs* Woo! Living with my brothers has finally paid off!

*Now it’s Gwen’s turn to shudder, and she shoves another caramel brownie in her mouth to chase away the gross thought* I much prefer brownies. *washes it down with a gulp of milk*

They get big fast, these guys.

I understand that, I totally do. And you should definitely do that, if that’s what you want. I should probably travel too, but I can’t bear to leave. Plus, there’s not really many places with such a dedicated theater community. Unless I want to go to L.A.

*At Gwen’s expression, MJ laughs into her glass, taking a drink.*

You’ve got that right. Chocolate goes good with almost everything.

I don’t even want to think about how big they’re going to get… I mean, how big does a helhound get? Fortunately my parents put a pet deposit down when we first moved into our apartment, just in case, but I’m realizing we’re gonna have to go on a LOT of walks… Though I’ve noticed people keeping a comfortable distance when I have him with me, so there’s that!

I understand the not wanting to leave too, though… It’s just so great here, and my career could end up taking me travelling too, you know? So I guess what I’m trying to say is that I haven’t really made my mind up at all. *Laughs, nomming another brownie* I have time to decide, though, which is a blessing all its own.

*She grins, pleased at having garnered the desired reaction.*

I don’t think it goes very well with most meats, though… Well. Not directly, anyway. As a side, there’s literally nothing it can’t pair with, as far as I’m concerned.

Yeah, that’s a good point. Well, that comes with perks, I guess. You’ll always have an excuse to exercise, and you’ll have a good source of protection. Plus right now, they’re pretty cute.

You’ve still got some time to pick. Don’t stress out about it before you have to. There’s plenty of other stuff to stress out about in the mean time. I’m trying to convince my aunt to let me skip graduation.

*She sticks out her tongue, before taking a brownie*

I don’t know, I’ve seen chocolate covered bacon. Gross as it sounds.

You’re right about that! You know when those green…. things attacked, he blew fire at the had-been pizza guy? I’d say I’m as safe as can be, with him around.

I know I shouldn’t, but it’s hard, you know? It’s such a big decision…
Man, if my mom wasn’t so excited about it, I’d follow you on that one. I think she’s more excited about it than I am!

*She mimics the stuck-out-tongue, adding a crazy face for good measure*

That…. sounds nasty…. How bad is it that I’d probably give it a try, though, just so I could know

freeagentwatson:

Hmm, hopefully they’ll wear each other out. That’d be a nice little perk.

Yeah, I’m commuting, it’s cheaper and better than dorming, if you ask me. *winks* I’d tell you that leaving would be crazy, and that this is the greatest city in the world, but it’s one hundred percent your decision.

Coming right up! *MJ grabs two glasses from the cabinet, and the milk from the fridge. After a second, she hands Gwen a glass of milk.*

As long as I don’t have to carry him home… He’s getting so heavy!

Thing is, I agree with you! But I hope to live here permanently after college, so I feel like I should spend some long-term time outside the state… you know? I worry that I’ll be one of those people who never sees the outside of their own hometown, even if that hometown is the incredible New York City.

Perfect~ Thank you! *As soon as she has the glass, she takes a drink, washing down some of the chocolate caramel gooeyness from the brownies*

There really is nothing better than milk and chocolate.

freeagentwatson:

Haha, that’s what they do I guess. They’ll pass out eventually. I’ll bet Arrow goes first. I swear that dog is part sloth.

That’s okay. I’m off to Tisch for drama in the fall. If I get enough money for it. *She pokes at the tray.* There are ones with caramel at the bottom, if that appeals.

Of course! You should go wherever you feel comfortable.

*MJ moves to the fridge.* Anything to drink? Milk? Coffee?

You never know! Achilles has been playing HARD ever since this morning. He’s GOT to run out of energy soon enough.

Well at least you get to stay in New York, right? It’s leaving here that’s making my own decision so hard… Ooh, caramel is the best! *digs for the caramel brownies, promptly nomming one*

Hmmm, that’s a hard one. I’m gonna have to go with milk, though. Might be a bit late for coffee…

*peers over also, and sees that Achilles is attempting to lead Arrow around by the collar. Shakes her head at them* I don’t think they’ll ever run out of energy!

That’s right, you’re going to film school, right? I’m so rude. Where are you gonna go? *grabs a brownie, ignoring that its still quite warm, and takes a bite*

Thank you for being understanding. I know some people would consider even the slightest of doubts concerning MIT to be borderline heresy!
